Portfolio

Gloucester Timeline: An Interactive History

I developed a digital and interactive research tool in collaboration with the Sawyer Free Library and the Gloucester 400+ for the 400th anniversary of Gloucester in 2023. This timeline included over 1500 key events and notable personalities throughout Gloucester’s history that enabled users to interact with a wide variety of digital assets held by different cultural institutions throughout Cape Ann.

Librarians by the Sea Podcast: Host & Editor

On the Librarians by the Sea Podcast, I interview local authors and journalists about their writing lives and recent works as well as other librarians about books that they’ve been enjoying as a way to provide readers’ advisory services to our patrons.

To listen to more episodes please visit the Swampscott Public Libraries website here.

Readers’ Advisory

In recent months, I have been creating the following readers’ advisory tools:

  • Book Recommendation & Request Form: Patrons can request a list of books based on another title or author that they enjoy. I compile the lists and send it to them based on the information that they share in the form.

  • Staff Picks Blog: I have written and published my own entries as well as encouraged other librarians to submit their own picks for our ever-growing blog.

  • Book Lists:

    • New Titles: new adult, young adult, and children’s books, audiobooks, DVDs, and CDs updated weekly

    • Titles We’re Excited About: monthly lists of upcoming titles that we suggest to readers compiled with the help of other librarians

    • Book Lists about a specific subject/author: seasonal and timely lists that would be of interest to the public
